Now available with a more porous EasyFlow filter and a matte beige surface texture, the Blom-Singer HME system has two options to help you improve your quality of life by serving as a partial replacement for lost nasal functions: the original Blom-Singer HME and the new Blom-Singer EasyFlow HME. They both do so by filtering and exchanging cool, dry air for warm and moist air. It's critical for laryngectomees to breathe in air that contains the proper heat and moisture content to protect the trachea and lower airway from drying and cooling. Both HME models do this without obstructing your ability to breathe or speak. Daily, regular use of the Blom-Singer HME System contributes to a healthier respiratory tract, restores airflow resistance, and helps to maintain optimal lung ventilation.

Held in place by choice of AccuFit or HydrFit adhesive housings, the HME is placed over the tracheostoma for inhaled and exhaled air to pass through. A sophisticated low profile translucent material helps the HME cartridge discretely blend with the TruSeal adhesive housing.

The Blom-Singer HME System also features an integrated MucusShield™ occluder that provides protection to the HumidiFilter from mucus secretions and creates an air-tight seal closure for speech. Many laryngectomees suffer from involuntary coughing and excessive mucus production due to loss of their larynx. Studies indicate patients using a Blom-Singer HME have experienced a 60% reduction in mucus when using the device for at least seven consecutive days. This amount of time is needed to allow the airway sufficient time to adapt and recognize the benefits of the HumidiFilter.

The EasyTouch™ speech button represents an innovative step forward because it makes stoma occlusion simple:

You need only press the EasyTouch button with minimal, manual force, and it closes to enable voice.
The feeling is definite. You can feel when it�s completely closed, so you can speak with more confidence.
Release the EasyTouch button, and it instantly returns to its open, breathing position.

The Blom-Singer HME System is a daily-disposable device that comes fully assembled in a 30-day supply. You simply put on a new one each day and discard the previous unit. The two-piece System consists of an HME cartridge and an AccuFit™ or TruSeal® adhesive housing. The cartridge has a HumidiFilter foam filter for heat and moisture exchange with an anti-microbial agent to inhibit bacterial growth on the filter; an EasyTouch speech button that makes stoma occlusion simple, allowing for more confident speaking; and the integrated MucusShield™ occluder that provides protection to the HumidiFilter from mucus secretions and creates an air-tight seal closure for speech.

The NEW Blom-Singer HydroFit™ Premium Adhesive Housing is gentle and flexible while still attaching firmly to the skin. Provides strong adhesion yet is easily removable. Available in choice of Round, Oval and Oval Extra.

The Blom-Singer HME System does not require a prescription and comes fully assembled in a 30-day supply. You can circle the same convenient day on your calendar each month to reorder and you do not have to contact your doctor. The Blom-Singer HME System is reimbursable for Medicare patients.
